    Our Medical Infrastructure

The Kalgidhar Society has been providing free medical care to the tribal/rural poor of the Himachal Pradesh. All BPL patients or others belonging to economically challenged families were given treatment. The patients’ patterns who required hospitalization were not only provided free medical treatment but they and their family members accompanying them were provided free board and lodging during the period of treatment. Wherever required we had been providing free transport for bringing the patients from the residence and taking them back. Health Care facilities but arc located at a far-off distance of about 65 kms. Being a backward area, there is hardly any communication facilities to reach these places especially during night unless someone has his own transport. Thus, it is almost impossible for the underprivileged masses to avail any Healthcare facilities at these places. Realizing the difficulties of the poor masses The Kalgidhar Society has established a 200 bed Akal Charitable Hospital spread in 70,000 sq. ft. area catering to the needs of deprived rural masses.

Many patients visit daily the OPD from far-flung surrounding areas spreading up to about 20 KM radius. In addition to the routine medical and surgical services, emergencies of all kinds are also attended. Serious patients afflicted with different diseases, including snakebites are admitted to the inpatient unit for further treatment and surgery. All the treatments are given free of costs. The attendants of the patients are also provided free meals and accommodations at Baru Sahib, regardless of religious faith or social status.

The Preventive Care & Immunization Drive With the aim to educate the rural area masses on immunization and preventive care for different critical diseases the hospital sends its Mobile Medical Teams to different locations and conducts small size seminars on health education. These teams are ambulance based and visit one location covering around ten every fortnight. The teams are equippedwith the following:
